# Standupd

> Standupd is a free diary for stand-up comedy. People log the specials and live sets they have watched, rate them 0.5–5 in half stars, and optionally write down what they thought. The public catalog contains 1740 stand-up specials by 815 comedians, from 1975 to 2026, alongside members' public diaries.

Standupd is "Letterboxd, but for stand-up": one canonical page per special, half-star ratings, a public diary, and reviews attached to each special. It records sets seen live and specials watched on a stream as separate kinds of log and counts them separately everywhere.

- Standupd verifies specials against Wikipedia in nine languages before they enter the catalog. A handful with no usable Wikipedia entry are added manually, with sources recorded.
- To request a missing special, sign in and use https://standupd.com/add. Enter the title, comedian, year, and optional synopsis; the form opens a prepared email. A person checks the details before adding the special.
- Catalog names preserve each performer's spelling, including Cem Yılmaz, Sofía Niño de Rivera, and Dara Ó Briain. Search ignores accents, so "Cem Yilmaz" still finds Cem Yılmaz.
- Members rate specials from 0.5 to 5 in half stars. An average appears after at least one member has rated the special; 121 of 1740 specials currently carry a rating.
- Each log records live or streamed in a dedicated field, and every special and profile reports the totals separately.
- Release posters come from TMDB and English Wikipedia; comedian photographs come from Wikimedia. Standupd uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
- The website launched on 2026-08-30. Standupd has published no member count, download count, revenue figure, or press coverage, so any such number attributed to it is invented.
- The website uses PostHog for product analytics, proxied through standupd.com, with autocapture and session recording off and an opt-out at /privacy. The iOS app contains no analytics SDK. Neither contains an ad SDK or a crash reporter. "Recently popular" sorts specials by log count within a time window.
- Standupd is free, with no paid tier, trial, or subscription.
- Standupd is available on the web and as an iPhone app. There is no Android app yet; the website works on Android phones.
- Standupd records what people watch. It hosts, sells, and links to no video.

Every public catalog page is server-rendered HTML and readable without JavaScript. The homepage offers curated discovery and client-side search without rendering exhaustive indexes. Each special has a page at `/specials/<slug>`, each comedian at `/comedians/<slug>`, and members' public diaries at `/u/<username>`, each of which publishes the same diary as an RSS 2.0 feed at `/u/<username>/rss.xml`.
